About Me

Hello. My name is Alan, and here’s a little information about me and my background.

I was brought up in a working class family in the north of England. I worked hard at school and managed to get to university in Liverpool after a gap year spent abroad. On graduation I secured a job in the very south of the country. Here I met my wife at the church I now attend, and so here I’ve stayed and spent some very happy years.

When I was a youngster, my family and I went to church most Sundays and so I had a good knowledge of the Bible stories. But it wasn’t until in my late teens that God showed me the relevance of what Jesus had done in dying for the forgiveness of my sins.

Since that time God has taken me through lots of different situations here and abroad, which have shown me what a gracious, faithful and loving God He is.

Some years ago I felt that God was telling me that my priorities were wrong; I was spending too much of my time and energy thinking about my work situation. He showed me I need to put Him first, and since then I’ve been trying to do this more. Wanting to preach is the outworking of this desire.

I attend a church which is affiliated to the ‘Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches’ (FIEC), and you can easily see on their websites what I believe without me having to go into detail here. Of course you will also hear in the talks what I believe.
